Kate Pendry (Norway):
Born in London, Kate has lived in Norway since 1995 and is a successful performance artist, actress and playwright whose work deals with controversial subjects. Her work is both personal and political, often using dark humor to make its points.
She recently made a journey to Iran, where she met with theater people in Tehran and learned about the circumstances under which they work.
She is now developing a project in solidarity with Iranian theater artists, in which she tries to use Iranian censorship as a limitation for a small theater play, as if the play was going to be performed in Iran. She does this also to investigate what this does to her art and what kind of subtlety will she have to use in order to transmit a message to the audience under the circumstances.
