The most widely listened singer of Egypt, Amr Diab was born on October 11, 1961 in Port Said, Egypt.
He has just not stormed the Arab world, but also the international musical scenario, by skilfully combining Arabic and Western rhythms.
Amr Diabs father was inclined to music and he also had a fine singing voice, he encouraged the young Diab to sing and dance. Diab gave his first performance at the age of six, he sang the national anthem, on Egyptian Radio. The Governor, of Port Said, was mighty pleased with the child, and presented him a guitar as a prize.
He studied music, at the music faculty of the Cairo Academy of Art, and graduated in 1986. After college he released his first album'Ya Tareeq' which was an instant hit. Since then there has been no looking back for him, he has recorded 16 top selling albums and has established himself as the uncrowned prince of music in Egypt and the Arab world.
He has toured widely and performed in concerts in Australia, Canada, Europe and the United States.
