The Abu al-Gheit Ensemble presents a repertoire of zikr music from the Delta of Egypt. Sufism and zar traditions merged together in Abu al-Gait village (Qalyubiyya) and Delta of Egypt through the activity of sufi Tariqa Ahmadiyya Gitaniyya, founded by the dervish Hassan Abu al-Gait in the XIX century. They merge Sufi textual and music repertoire to the zar rhythms with the result of a very unique model of cultural, religious and music syncretism.
